“Ark” depicts a child who fires a signal for help and looking for on the sea. I intentionally leave an open ending for viewers to wonder what may happen next. It is up to viewers to decide the direction of the narrative. In my mind, America is a country made of immigrants; To be an American means to be diverse and equal. In this painting, I combine the maker making of Chinese Sumi painting and Abstract Expressionism to reflect my observation of American culture, which is a remix culture. At the same time, the imagery rises a question whether the core value of America will be still there tomorrow.
